About me

A counsellor who gets it

My route into counselling was shaped by real life as much as by training. Experiences of loss helped me understand how important it can be to have careful, thoughtful support when life becomes difficult.

Working with adults aged 18 and over

I didn’t become a counsellor because I went to counselling myself. What changed everything was losing a colleague to suicide. He was someone I managed, and someone I considered a friend. When it happened, I was left with something I didn’t know how to carry.

In the aftermath, I found myself thinking about what might have been different if he’d had somewhere to go. Someone to talk to. Somewhere he could have been honest about what was happening inside, without fear or judgement.

I didn’t want other people to feel what I felt. That sense of having nowhere to turn. And I didn’t want other families to go through what my colleague’s family went through.

My approach

I trained as an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on several therapeutic approaches — not because I follow a script, but because different things work for different people. What stays constant is the quality of attention I bring to every session.

We take things at a speed that feels workable. You don’t need to have your story straight before we begin. Many people come not knowing exactly what’s wrong, only that something is. That’s enough.
