Online counselling across North East England
I didn’t become a counsellor because I went to counselling myself. What changed everything was losing a colleague to suicide. He was someone I managed, and someone I considered a friend. When it happened, I was left with something I didn’t know how to carry.
In the aftermath, I found myself thinking about what might have been different if he’d had somewhere to go. Someone to talk to. A space where he could have been honest about what was happening inside, without fear or judgment.
I didn’t want other people to feel what I felt. That sense of having nowhere to turn. And I didn’t want other families to go through what my colleague’s family went through.
My approach
I trained as an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on several therapeutic approaches — not because I follow a script, but because different things work for different people. What stays constant is the quality of attention I bring to every session.
I work at your pace. You don’t need to have your story straight before we begin. Many people come not knowing exactly what’s wrong — only that something is. That’s enough.
