A service that can adapt
Accessibility & adjustments
People access counselling in different ways. Please tell me what would make it easier, safer or more comfortable for you to take part.
Ways we can adapt
- telephone, secure video, face-to-face or walk and talk sessions where suitable
- clear written information before sessions
- more processing time, pauses, movement or reduced sensory demands
- using captions, chat or another communication support where the platform allows
- discussing mobility, hearing, visual, neurodivergent or other access needs
- agreeing how reminders and contact are sent
Face-to-face access
Please ask before booking if you need information about steps, parking, toilets, seating, lighting, noise or other physical features of the counselling venue. I will be open about any limitation and discuss a reasonable alternative where possible.
Walk and talk
Walk and talk is optional and is not expected as an alternative to making other reasonable adjustments. We can discuss route length, pace, terrain, weather and rest points, or choose another format.
Website accessibility
I aim to keep this website readable, keyboard-friendly and usable at different screen sizes. If a page, form or document is difficult to use, contact me at neil@neilatkinsoncounselling.co.uk and tell me the page and the format that would help.
Requesting an adjustment
You do not need to provide a diagnosis. I may ask enough about the practical effect of a barrier to understand what adjustment could work. I will consider requests individually and explain openly if a particular adjustment is not possible or would make counselling unsafe or outside my competence.
