I am pleased to be launching my counselling practice in Consett, offering face to face counselling locally as well as online sessions wherever you are.
Starting counselling can feel like a lot. For some people it comes after a long period of dealing with things alone. For others it begins with a sense that something is not quite right, even if it is hard to put into words. You do not need to have everything figured out before sending a message.
You do not need to be in crisis to come to counselling. You only need a sense that something matters and that you do not want to keep facing it alone.
My route into counselling was shaped by personal loss and by a growing sense that this was work that mattered deeply to me. That experience helped me understand how important it can be to have time to talk, think and feel properly listened to during difficult times. It also shaped the kind of counsellor I want to be, thoughtful, direct and human.
I offer counselling for adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, grief, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties and times of feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Whatever brings you to counselling, the aim is to offer a space where you can speak openly, feel heard and begin to make sense of what is happening.
I believe counselling should feel human. It is not about being analysed from a distance or expected to say the right thing. It is about having space to think, feel and reflect with someone alongside you.
A first session is not a test. It is simply a place to begin.
I offer face to face counselling in Consett for those who would prefer to meet in person. I also offer online sessions for people across the UK who may want the flexibility of attending from home or another private space.
If you are thinking about counselling but feel unsure, that is completely understandable. Many people feel uncertain before a first session. You do not need to arrive with a clear plan or a polished explanation. A first session is simply a place to begin.
If you would like to find out more, you are welcome to get in touch. I know how much courage it can take to begin, and I look forward to supporting people in Consett and across the UK online as this new chapter begins.
